India imposes anti dumping duty on Chinese measuring tape

On September 21, 2020, the Ministry of Commerce and industry of India announced that, at the application of the domestic enterprise fmlimited, an anti circumvention investigation was launched against measuring tapes originating in or imported from China, and whether the products involved were imported into India through Singapore and Cambodia to avoid anti-dumping duties. The case involved products under Indian customs code 9017. The dumping investigation period of this case is from April 2019 to March 2020 (12 months), and the injury investigation period is from April 2016 to March 2017, April 2017 to March 2018, April 2018 to March 2019 and the dumping investigation period.

On October 23, 2002, India launched an anti-dumping investigation on the measuring tape originated from or imported from China. On March 31, 2008, India filed an anti-dumping sunset review investigation against the measuring tape originating in or imported from China. On May 9, 2014, India launched the second anti-dumping sunset review investigation on the measuring tape originated from or imported from China. On May 5, 2015, India made a sunset review final determination on the anti-dumping of measuring tape imported from China. On July 9, 2015, India imposed an anti-dumping duty for five years on measuring tape imported from China: the anti-dumping duty on steel tape measure and its components is US $2.83/kg, and that of fiberglass tape measure (tape measure) and its components is US $1.33/kg. On December 18, 2019, the Ministry of Commerce and industry of India announced that, in response to the application submitted by the Indian domestic enterprise FMI Ltd, the third anti-dumping sunset review investigation on the measuring tape originating in or imported from China was carried out. The products involved include steel tape measure and its components and fiberglass tape measure (tape measure) and its components. On June 18, 2020, the Ministry of Commerce and industry of India announced that it had made the third antidumping final determination on the measuring tape originating in or imported from China, and proposed to impose an anti-dumping duty on the products involved for a period of five years. The products involved in this case include steel tape measure and its components and glass fiber tape measure (tape measure) and its components. The steel tape measure and its components are 1.83 US dollars / kg, and the glass fiber tape measure and its components are 2.56 US dollars / kg. On July 8, 2020, India began to impose an anti-dumping duty on Chinese tape measures for a period of five years, which is valid until July 7, 2025.
